Description

Text is from the Office of the Dead. Vespers .Psalms 119-120.

It is utilizing Greek numbering for psalms. In Hebrew numbering the psalms are 120 and 121.

Recto has illustrated letters in boxes. The boxes are red, and blue with the letters in gold. There is marginalia of acanthus leaves and very small rinseau. There is also a beast with cloven feet and a long neck. The beast also has a face with a beard, and a hat with definition only with golden lines, not color. The text is brownish, with biting bows as shown with the d and o in domino.

Verso has illustrated initials in boxes. There is also an illuminated looking area, with red and blue stripes. There are vines and flowers, with a hint of rinseau. The text is brownish, with biting bows as shown with the d and o in dominus. A's are all capitalized. There is evidence of rubrication, with the text underneath the top line. There is what looks like water damage at the top. there is evidence of tears at the side.

The image of the detail of the grotesque comes from an exhibit from a professor from University of Saskatchewan, Peter Stoicheff.
