The leaves of Ege FOL 47 in this exhibit show a variety of decorative aspects, including margin decorations, decorated initials, and decorative line fillers.

According to the 1935 de Ricci Census of Renaissance and Medieval Manuscripts in the United States and Canada and the sale catalog of Mrs. Milton E. Getz, the manuscript originally contained six ¾-page illuminated miniatures, as well as seven capitals embodying small miniatures and illuminated floral marginal borders (for more information on the census and sale catalog as well as the provenance of this manuscript, see the provenance exhibit).  The miniatures are listed as follows:  St. John on the Island of Patmos, the Crucifixion, Pentecost, the Annunciation, King David, and Death in the acting of striking down a young woman with his spear.  It has been proposed that the Pentecost miniature is the same Pentecost miniature as is located in the Lima Public library, although this has not been confirmed.

Regarding the decorations in the leaves in this exhibit, they primarily comprise two styles:  One, referred to in this exhibit as geometric decorations, visible in some margins as well as in decorated initials and line fillers; and two, referred to in this exhibit as botanical decorations, visible in the remaining margins.  On some leaves, both the recto and verso contain geometric designs (e.g. University of Iowa, right), while some leaves have botanical decoration on one side and geometric decoration on the reverse (e.g. Kenyon College, botanical recto and geometric verso, below right).  The different kinds of illustrations may suggest that multiple illustrators worked on this manuscript.
